All of our veterinary nurses have received specialized training specific to the field of veterinary medicine. They are technically proficient in many areas. Not only do they work in the exam rooms, they are the “behind the scenes” people who run all of the blood-chemistry tests, take radiographs (X-Rays), administer medications to hospitalized patients, administer and manage anesthesia, assist in surgery, recover patients after surgery, and perform microscopic studies. Our certified veterinary nurses attended a rigorous two-year program that leads to an associate of applied science degree. Following graduation, the student must pass a national board exam (VTNE). Only then do they receive the title of Certified Veterinary Technician, or CVT.
