Anesthesia/Surgery

Aspen Arbor Animal Hospital has multiple anesthesia protocols.  These protocols take into consideration your pet’s age and current health.

A complete physical examination and pre-anesthetic blood analysis are given before any surgical procedure.  The results from our onsite laboratory help identify any conditions that are undetectable by the physical exam.  Although there are always risks associated with anesthesia, this thorough evaluation of your pet’s health will help reduce the risks and help ensure a successful operation.

During surgery your pet will be continually monitored with the same techniques used in human medicine.  IV fluids are given during surgery to support blood pressure and help the body cope with the stress of anesthesia and surgery.
