History & Philosophy

Aspen Arbor Animal Hospital has been caring for pets since 1973.  In 1993, the practice was purchased by our current chief veterinarian Dr. Brian McKee and his wife Charlotte. Dr. McKee has been treating pets since 1982 and has a wealth of knowledge and experience in small animal surgery and medicine.  In 2006, Dr. Marie Bartling joined Aspen Arbor.  She has a special interest in ophthalmology, acupuncture and equine care.  In 2009, Dr. Marcy Schwartzman joined our team of doctors.  She has a special interest in small animal dentistry and feline care.

In January 2010, we moved to our new, state-of-the-art facility near the Rocky Mountain Regional Airport to serve the Westminster, Arvada and Broomfield communities and have expanded our services to include Louisville, Superior and Lafayette.

Our family of doctors and staff are committed to creating a warm, friendly and supportive animal hospital. It is our mission to be a full-service family veterinary facility where patrons can receive comprehensive services for their pets.  We offer routine medical care, surgeries, hospitalization, a complete pharmacy, pet products, grooming, boarding, acupuncture, pain management, dentistry, in-house laboratory and radiology.  We believe your pet should feel comfortable and safe when being treated.  By creating a full-service facility, your pet will feel right at home!

As an accredited member of the American Animal Hospital Association, we are dedicated to providing excellence in small animal care. Since 2004, we have regularly undergone evaluations by AAHA to ensure that we comply with the association’s high quality standards of care. These standards cover nearly every aspect of our hospital, including surgery, pharmacy, laboratory, exam facilities, pet health records, cleanliness, emergency services, dental and nursing care, diagnostic imaging, and anesthesiology. AAHA standards are recognized around the world as the benchmark for quality care in veterinary medicine; only 15 percent of US animal hospitals are accredited by AAHA.
